13.07.2020 – As part of the project "Dortmunder Profil für inklusionsorientierte Lehrer/-innenbildung", an anthology on the topic "Inclusion in Teacher Education - Learning Objects, Interactions and Processes" will be published in 2022. Interested authors are kindly invited to contribute a chapter to the volume.

02.07.2020 – We are pleased to announce that a video of last week's talk by Stefan Kulhmann and Ewert Aukes (University of Twente, the Netherlands) within the scope of our Higher Education Research Colloquium is now available online. In their talk titled "Science diplomacy in the making – towards effective practice", Prof. Kuhlmann and Dr. Aukes introduced the concept of science diplomacy, outlined the role of science diplomacy in addressing societal challenges, and addressed the challenges related to the governance of science diplomacy in Europe. We would like to thank both speakers for the highly interesting insights into the findings of their research project "S4D4C – Using science for/in diplomacy for addressing global challenges".

Social Inclusion: Call for Abstracts

30.06.2020 – Prof. Liudvika Leišytė and Prof. Rosemary Deem (Royal Holloway, UK) edit the special issue of the Social Inclusion journal on "Inclusive Universities in a Globalized World". Theoretical, methodological, and empirical contributions from different countries addressing different types of diversity in higher education are welcome. Social Inclusion is an open access journal and the special issue will be published in August/September 2021.

New article by Dr. Mehwish Waheed and Prof. Liudvika Leišytė on Scandinavian students' views on using digital learning environments

22.04.2020 – Especially in these times, learning in a digital environment is one of the most acute topics in higher education research. In their article based on the presentation at the LINC conference at MIT, Mehwish Waheed and Liudvika Leišytė show the importance of interaction quality for students' learning experience in digital learning environment. Their survey of the Scandinavian students in business administration has shown the importance of the quality of interaction between students and teachers in the platform-based and sociability based settings to achieve the desired learning outcomes.

New article in Triple Helix

22.04.2020 – How do Triple Helix linkages foster study program innovation at a German university of applied sciences at the micro-level? And how does the entrepreneurial university shape support structures and processes to foster this innovation at the meso-level?
Benjamin Schiller and Liudvika Leišytė answer these questions by drawing on Triple Helix literature analysing cooperative study programs in the field of business administration and nursing at a German university of applied sciences.

10.02.2020 – In the context of the new Bund-Länder-Programme "Innovation in der Hochschullehre", the Toepfer-Stiftung invited experienced professionals to discuss the future organization of funding schemes to support innovation of higher education teaching and learning. Prof. Leišytė was selected to participate in the first think tank of the four on 6th February in Cologne. We are excited that the consultation process has a bottom-up approach and look forward to the upcoming funding programme to support teaching innovation of German universities.

APIKS workhop: The role of the academic profession in the knowledge society

03.02.2020 – As the coordinator of the Lithuanian country study of APIKS project, prof. Leišytė participated in the Hana-Academy organized workshop on "The role of the academic profession in the knowledge society" on January 30.
She commented on prof. Urich Teichler’s keynote and participated in the panel discussion on APIKS project findings. Permanent secretary of the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture, the CEO of the Hanaholmen Foundation, university managers from Sweden and Finland and other stakeholders of higher education discussed the changing financing of higher education and the future of the academic profession in the Nordic and Baltic countries.

HdHf team presents APIKS project at the "Global Gallery" at TU Dortmund

29.01.2020 – 30 international projects were presented at the first "Global Gallery" at the TU Dortmund University. During a gallery walk, visitors were invited to inform themselves about the various international projects at the TU Dortmund University and to get into conversation with the project participants.
The team of the Chair of Higher Education presented the Lithuanian country study of the project "APIKS - Academic Profession in the Knowledge Society". APIKS aims at an international comparison of working conditions for academics at universities across the world. Research teams from more than 20 countries are participating in this project.

20.01.2020 – It was an honour to welcome the Robert E. Buuck Chair of Entrepreneurship and Strategy and the Academic Director of the Gary S. Holmes Center for Entrepreneurship, Prof. Shaker A. Zahra from the University of Minnesota, in December 2019. He is one of the leading scholars in the field of Strategy and Entrepreneurship and the recipient of the 2014 Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research. After an inspiring talk on digital technology and the disruption of global business ecosystems at the zhb Higher Education Research Colloquium, Prof. Zahra held a doctoral workshop on how to publish with impact in international reknown peer reviewed journals for the PhD students from the Faculty of Business and Economics at TU Dortmund University.

20.01.2020 – As an expert for the post-Sovjet higher education systems' transformation, Prof. Leišytė participated in the doctoral committee of Myroslava Hladchenko's thesis "Global education models in national contexts: The establishment of research universities in Ukraine" at the University of Twente. Congratulations to the Center for Higher Education Policy Studies at the University of Twente with a new doctor!

15.01.2020 – From December 10-13, 2019, Sude Peksen participated in the annual conference of the Society for Research into Higher Education (SRHE) in Newport, Wales, UK, where she presented a talk based on her PhD project "Information Sources and Access to German Computer Sciences Programmes: The Role of Gender, Age and Social Networks". The trip was financed by a stipend of the early career researchers' section (HoFoNa) of the German Association for Higher Education Research (GfHf).
