Welcome to the Center for Higher Education

The Center for Higher Education (Zentrum für Hochschulbildung, zhb) is a central scientific unit consisting of the four service departments "Disability and Studies", "Foreign Languages", "Teaching & Faculty Development" and "Continuing Education". These departments offer you a variety of seminars, coaching programs as well as education programs. These are closely linked to three university chairs where comprehensive research is conducted on the services offered, ensuring that you will receive the latest research findings at first hand.

22.09.2016 – Dr. Bruno Broucker and Dr. Kurt de Wit (University of Leuven) will give a talk with the title "Higher Education for Public Value: orienting the post-NPM reform debate". In their talk, they will (1) identify the flaws of New Public Management as a paradigm for university-reform, (2) provide an understanding of public value for higher education and (3) present a new model for reform, with inclusion of the concept of public value. Derived from this model, they will formulate an agenda for future research.

13.07.2016 – It is our pleasure to invite you to the guest talk by Dr. Christian Schmid (zhb, TU Dortmund University) at the zhb Higher Education Research Colloquium Series. Based on Bordieu's theory of practice and his concept of interest, Dr. Schmid will discuss the case of managerial governance for the social organisation and organizability of academic teaching.
