ELLI 1 - Excellence in Teaching and Learning in the Engineering Sciences

Brief description of the project:

ELLI aims at improving studying conditions and further developing the quality of teaching and learning in the engineering programs in Aachen, Bochum and Dortmund. ELLI’s activities include evaluation within the fields of action virtual learning environments, mobility funding, and internationalization, creativity, and multidisciplinarity as well as measures aiming to improve transfer within the student lifecycle. ELLI especially focuses on problems in the introductory phase of study and addresses the transition from studying to graduation. ELLI contains concrete approaches to solve current problems such as high termination rates, poor international mobility, and the low proportion of women in the engineering sciences. ELLI also sets standards for the second phase of academic reform (Bologna 2.0) and strives to mark the way for excellence in engineering education. The second phase is characterized by innovative study concepts as well as excellent accessibility for a high number of students.

ELLI is a joint project of the research project partners RWTH Aachen University, Ruhr-University Bochum, and TU Dortmund University.

TU Dortmund University’s Center for Higher Education places a special focus on mobile learning, creativity, and research-based learning in higher engineering education within ELLI.
